Centers:
Nene: Now ready to take the starting spot after Camby¡¯s departure, he should make an impact down low. He has decent moves and should be able to hold his own on the defensive end.
Nene-Known for his smelly hands.
Prediction: With starting minutes he should get decent center averages. The Nuggets would be glad with 14 PPG, 10 RPG and 1.5 BPG.
Wayne Simien[/b]
Just a bit weaker and less experienced than Nene, he may challenge him a bit later. If he busts his ass off every day off the bench he may see more minutes.
Others: Paul Davis
Outlook: Hopefully the Nuggets have a center tandem like the Forderon one in T.O. Both expiring, it¡¯s either Simien or Nene as the future centre for years to come so they better play hard.
Forwards
Andrew Bogut [/b]
Newly acquired Bogut gives the Nuggets the dominant inside presence they lacked. His stats from last year are unspectacular but given a new start he should be a bit better. Needs to be a force on the defensive end since he gets a low BPG, which was what made Camby so important. Once developed, he can be a top 5 big man.
Prediction: 19 PPG 9 RPG 1 BPG
Ron Artest [/b]
Artest, who was robbed off the MVP trophy last year is back with a vengeance. News from training camp says he has not lost his touch at all. He is well known for his stealing and his new nickname is ¡®The Robber¡¯.
Prediction He wins MVP with 29.5 PPG 7.5 RPG 4.5 APG and 3 SPG
Jeff Adrien [/b]
He won¡¯t be seeing many minutes since half of the time he touches the ball he loses it. Seriously needs to work on his handles before he can be a solid contributor (F+). If only.
He¡¯s going to lose the ball AGAIN.
Prediction: His polished offensive skills and hustle make him valuable, so 3 PPG 3 RPG 0.5 BPG 0.1 APG 1.5 TPG wouldn¡¯t be too bad
Taurence Kinsey
On most teams, this talented young one would be a starter. Not on this deep squad, even though his training camp result was very good. With Artest taking up most of his minutes, Kinsey may be forced to adapt at the Power Forward position with Adrien fails.
Prediction 6 PPG off the bench, should be the Nuggets 6th man.
Others: Shan Foster
Outlook : Bogut and Artest form a sick duo, one of the best defensive ones. They lack some depth at the 4 though.
Guards
Delonte West
Just like Nene, this is his time to shine. After playing second fiddle to AI for two seasons, he can now be the sole floor general. The Nuggets have been accused of pumping steroids (so called ¡®ATC¡¯s) into him as well, so that his passing would be improved but the Nuggets Organization denies it.
On steroids? (ATCs)
Prediction: 13 PPG 8 APG 1 SPG He isn¡¯t ready yet, but he has the skills to lead the team to victory. If opponents double Artest he better be prepared to take the shots.
Brandon Roy
Roy has A LOT to prove this season, with the Nuggets giving up their prize gem for this guy. His stats don¡¯t compare to JRs so he better show some improvement this year. A excellent versatile offensive player with the handling needed to play the guard.
Prediction Former ROY Roy should get 15 PPG 4 APG 2 SPG, which isn¡¯t a stretch considering he averaged 14.5 ppg, 3.7apg and 1.5 spg last year. Some say his development has leveled out with his terrible performance last year.
Kyle Lowry [/b]
A backup point guard who can just about do everything, Kyle Lowry should battle it out with Hollinger for the 2 string PG spot. While Hollinger has the handles and speed, Lowry has the athleticism, intensity and the upside.
Not good.
Predcition 4 PPG 3 APG, decent enough to give West a breather.
Jonathan Wallace [/b]
This scrub didn¡¯t improve at all during TC.
Prediction 0PPG 0APG
Outlook : The performance of the guards this season IS CRUCIAL. Delonte better step it up.
