not my decision but it appears to me as if OnEal is signed and shouldnt be let out of his contract.... If i was a player i wouldnt want out. just cause i was traded a week later.... Just my opinion. Now if there was an ATC lossage you know something that allows a GM to back out of a bad contract or something then thats cool.... but other wise i say hes signed.....

As far as I can see, getting a player to sign to a low contract has no bearing on whether he whines about reneging on contracts.

I dont understand this backing out of contract situation either. Just like I don't think the players can back out once we agree on the boards neither can owners or from here on all owners should be allowed to change their minds on contracts and back out.
I think this is a terrible precedent which really makes no sense. The trade should assume that JO is signed for next year.
I get no benefit from this deal so I don't care about who gets which players but like I said if we make this exception then we create a bad precedent.

As far as I can see, getting a player to sign to a low contract has no bearing on whether he whines about reneging on contracts. my point was that clearly this league doesn't always look out for the players' best interests. i find it funny that a handfull of GMs are upset with a meager 2.25% increase in the hard cap and me renegging on a contract extension offer that hadn't even been uploaded...yet people rarley bitch about the re-signing process that uses two standards and doesnt let big names test the market

It is not about the player's interest but whether GMs can back out of contracts if they change their minds?
If they can then everyone should be allowed to. If they can't then JO should be signed for next year.

If you want, I could happily spend some time bitching about the two standards resigning process for a while, but I think I've given the Commish enough crap lately.

Also, since Thabeet was traded before this response, please don't process the Heat offer.

Also, since Thabeet was traded before this response, please don't process the Heat offer. LOL, nice. It's kind of frustrating to try to talk trade when you can't tell whether someone's resigned without pouring through threads. I initially thought he hadn't been signed and almost made the deal - I can tell you that would have been maddening. I came to the point where if the contract extension doesn't stick, than I don't mind doing the deal. Apparently it was a non-issue as the trade went through.
