The Knicks were able to hang on and beat the 76ers, but fell to eventual Eastern Conference Champ Bobcats to finish their season. Overall, they were mildly pleased with their 49-33 record which was only one game behind co-division champs Boston and Miami.
Dwight Howard
Against the 76ers, Dwight Howard was a beast, averaging 27 pts and 13.8 rebounds. While not far above his season's averages, doing all this against a center of Dalembert's ability was critical to the play of the Knicks in this series.
For the season. Diwght had arguably the best season of his career with 2.5 blocks and 12.2 rebonds being career highs. he's forced to carry the load with this team and that won't change anytime soon.
Kosta Koufos
The Greek Geek, he improved a little over last year but still shows great signs of immaturity. His 2 pt, 6 rebound performance against the 76ers in Game 2 was one of those moments. He allows other teams to double Howard without penalty, and that will have to change for this team to get any better.
Jameer Nelson
We're going to look for Jameer to possibly move to his more natural position of PG next year after some struggles from Nate Robinson this year. All of that will depend on who is available when the Knicks draft. Jameer had a very good season limiting his turnovers to an incredible 1.0 per game while scoring 19.8 pts game.
2010 Outlook
This team will likely undergo some changes in the next couple seasons as the lifespan of a top NBL team isn't a long one. One lotto pick has helped transform teams from last to first so the Knicks will have to try to compete with those teams while drafting at the back end of the round. We believe it can be done, we will just have to be selective with our picks and development.
