Lakers Management was able to land two quality players on the first day of free agent signing.
Darius Miles signed a one year mid level exception at $4.5 million to come off the bench at either the #3 or #4 spot. Miles was a quality reserve last season averaging nearly 10 ppg in 26 mpg. Miles length will allow him to provide the Lakers with flexibility should Kobe suffer some problems coming back from the slew of injuries last year that hampered him throughout the season.
Quentin Richardson signed a one year low level exception at $1.2 million to come off the bench at either the #1, 2 or 3 spots. Richardson is 30 years old and is coming off a year in which he played 75 games but only managed 12.7 mpg. It was a mere 4 years ago that Richardson averaged 21 ppg for the Knicks. GM Julius Suchy had this to say about the aquisition "We feel that Quentin can provide some quality scoring off the bench, but most importantly he can fill the three point shooting void that was created with the dealing of long time Laker Luke Walton."
Lakers management looks to be set with the roster at the current time.... there have been rumors regarding Kobe and Wade, but it seems that the Lakers have not been able to find a deal that they want to jump at just yet. GM Suchy was overheard saying "We don't need to deal either guy, just to make a trade... if it makes sense for the organization we will pursue it, but just because a guy is on the trade block doesn't mean he has to be dealt."
