2010 NBL Season Sim 1 has been a great disappointment in the view of many Nuggets Fans. It is the first time in 2 and a half years since they have gone inder .500.
The Good
NENE
This guy has been an absolute monster so far. He is playing almost as good as last years Camby last year but with more polished post skills. His play so far has made the Coach promise him plays for Sim 2 (Option no. 3)
Reason [/b]: It's Contract year for Nene, and he wants moolah. His re-signing will be one of the NuggetsGMs top priorities.
WEST
6.9 APG? Quite diappointing. 11 PPG? Expected. But his percentages and defensive stats are what make him so special. 2.4 SPG is a huge surprise and bonus as he proves to be one of the more versitile PGs in the league. He has been getting a lot of open looks when Artest and Bogut get doubled and it shows with his excellent .536 FG%. It seems the gamble the Nuggets placed in Delonte has payed off, and if he develops, he will become an amazing PG with all star potential.
Reason [/i] : Considering the ATCs spent and the things they let go of (AI) he'd better play well. He gets a lot of looks as well.
Thats about it for the good column. Something that deserves mentioning would be the 11,000,000 cap space they found out they had after the JR blockbuster was processed. Will a stud signing next year mean a championship run rebirth?
The Bad
Ron Artest
Sure he is the franchise player and the no 1 option, there's no doubt about that, but when he's having a bad shooting night he doesnt need to keep chucking it. He's the best player in the Nuggets not because of his offensive skills but his all round game.
24 PPG at 30-40% is not the right mentality for the team.
Reason [/b]: He's proven to be a reliable scorer in the past. Hopefully he'll get back to original shooting form.
Dirk 'Motherf***er Nowitzki
Yes, he's not on the Nuggets but seriously he picks now to finally break out of his 2 year shooting slump? 19 PPG at .500 with the Pacers, absolutely pathetic. Why was he shooting at 30 percent, 11 PPG when he was with the Nuggets? Plays were set for him, he was given minutes....One must wonder, if Dirk played 100 % with the Nuggets, could they have won the championship?
Reason [/b]: Lack of Heart. Didn't like Denver, or the playing style thus causing him to play lazy. Expect him to boo'ed whenever he comes back to play against the Nuggets.
Brandon Roy and Andrew Bogut
Boy, is this trade looking bad now. Nowitzki and JR have been lighting it up while Roy and Bogut have been complete duds.
Bogut- Coach didn't like what he was seeing and therefore yanked him out for most of the games. (29 MPG as a starter). His ratings don't seem to match his stats.
Roy-As said on draft night, his potential doesn't seem to be so great. Barely any improvement was seen this sim as he faltered and looked out of place. Percentages were terrible for both players.
Reason [/b]: The only excuse the GM can make is that they are not used to the system yet. But they better, fast.
Basically, the rest of the team have been bricking more than swishing and that is the main reason of their failure. While their defense remains one of the best, their PPG is horrible. The GM can't do much about it for now except right articles and use them ATCs.
Thats Sim 1 recap, hopefully the next few ones will be a lot more positive, which is more than likely if most of the players break out of their slump
