I wish I knew why my defense allowed 102.7 ppg.
I mean my starter's defense ratings are A-, B+, A-, A-, A-.
Overall my defensive ratings are: 1 A 7 A- 4 B+ 2 B 1 B-
Urghh this frustrates me. I can understand the Sixers amazing D with two A+ starters, but the Blazers have great post defense and just average perimeter defense, yet they're number two in oPPG.
On paper, I'd think I had one of the best defenses in the league, I just wish I could find a way to make it translate.

im right there with you. i dont think im rated as well as you but i have some great interior defenders and very solid perimeter defenders as well. and yet still give up 120 point games. dont quite understand. pretty frustrating too

maybe the offense of the opposing teams are quite too high for those high defensive ratings...

in theory maybe. but the difference in an A scorer and an A defender shouldnt be much since its all an 100 pt scale, right?

I'd say with Oden and Hibbert blocking 8 shots per game, that's why my defense is good. Who knows how much that changes a game. However, I made that move with that idea in mind, but with no idea it would actually work.

I think so much goes into the actual points per game allowed that just defensive ratings is not a good measure.
-The speed you play the game so the teams that play up tempo will get scored on more as their will be more possessions for both teams. -Ratings represent a fair difference in actual talent. One guy with A defense may be a lock down defender while another may be very good at just shot blocking but not a great defender or great at steals. Stats and real life defense don't always equate. -Rebounding must be somewhere in the equation. If you can stop the other team but give up a lot of offensive boards then you may still give up a lot of points.
I am sure other factors go in but I am not sure if just looking at the rating is the best thing. Look at the guys that seem to have great handle but don't get a lot of assists. Or why are some guys rated in A in offense scoring 20 while others 30? There must be other factors involved.
