The company where I work is one of Revolution Money's partners. They aim to be a next-genaration bank that cuts the crap and legacy out of everything, allowing them to kick everyone's asses for rates and fees and keep things really cheap for their customers. They also plan to compete with Paypal, and from the looks of it, they might put them out of business. Anyway, there's a limited time offer where they will start your account with $25 if you sign up. I signed up through a blog that I read and that blogger got a $10 referral bonus. If you sign up through the link at the bottom, I will also get a $10 referral bonus. I expect that you'll be able to use this on various online shopping sites eventually. At the very minimum, you can hook up to an existing checking account and just transfer the $25 out to that and use it however you want. Sign up for your free RevolutionMoney exchange card, get $25 to start

It's a sad day when a wrestling thread gets interest and 25 bucks for free doesn't.

I tried it. I got that error I told you about in PSBL. I can't complete step 2, 3 or 4 because it tells me to verify my SS#, but when I submit it, it says already registered to my account. Obviously...

Did you contact their help system?
You give your SSN on any bank account...this is nothing unusual. I don't get the repulsion.

There are legitimate reasons not to do this.
One would be if you're preparing for a big home purchase and you've had a lot of hard inquiries on your credit report lately. This would be things like applying for a couple credit cards and an auto loan in the last 6 months. Then maybe another inquiry like the one Revolution Money would do might start to hurt your credit.
If you're not wanting to give your SSN because you're nervous about your credit score, you can ask me for advice in your situation. This is not a line of credit, so most of you have nothing to worry about. If you sign up for the card, that's a different story.
If you're worried because people say "don't give your SSN to anyone, it might be a scam", then you're just being a little stupid. I know people are concerned about identity theft, but to be afraid to give your SSN to an FDIC-insured legitimate financial institution is just succumbing to fearmongering.
When you open a checking account in a brick-and-mortar bank, they will ask for your SSN. This is no different.
