Despite many injuries including one that side lined Gilbert Arenas for the half the season the Nets won 47 games and made the playoffs as the #4 seed in the East.
In the playoffs they utterly destroyed the rival Atlanta Hawks by taking all four games in convincing fashion. In the second round the story was a bid different as they could only take the series to a game 6 where they lost to the Bobcats.
Notables for the year:
Gilbert Arenas - averaged a career high 32 points a game as he moved over to SG and shot over 50% from 3 point range. Could be a candidate for MVP next year if he can play a full season.
Jrue Holiday - took over at PG and averaged almost 20 points and 8 assists. In addition he grabs 5 boards a game and lead the team with 1.8 steals.
Tracy McGrady - showed that he is still a 20 point scorer in this league as he averaged 19.2 despite often being the #3 scoring option. His assists and rebounds make him a pretty complete SF.
Chandler Parsons - played a lot with Arenas being hurt and showed why he may be the heir apparent to McGrady. He can score in bunches and shoots a great percentage (45% from the field, 90% from the line and 42% from 3point range). With his great size he also manages to rebound real well at 4.2 in just 23 minutes a game.
Nobody that plays major minutes will be leaving the team next year and we have two more 1st round picks coming so the team should once again get deeper and compete. Hopefully with fewer injuries we can get a higher playoff seed which may help us go further next year.
