It is interesting to see where teams ranked in the Power Factor and how they finished in the playoffs.
1. Portland Trailblazers 14.55: The top team all year long, and to the surprise of few, they walked to the championship. I would expect them to maintain the top spot for at least two-three years, maybe longer.
2. Charlotte Bobcats 12.45: The team that looked like they'd be the East Champs played like it. They weren't strong enough however to knock off the Blazers.
3. Cleveland Cavaliers 8.9: They made it to the semi-finals for the first time ever, and they have nice core of young players. It will take a little more to beat the Bobcats, but if they make some moves they might get there.
4. Sacramento Kings 7.5: They made it to the semi-finals as well, and despite having a pretty strong team, couldn't pull off the upset. Some of their key players are aging, so it will be interesting to see what they do over the next few years to improve the team.
5. Seattle Sonics 5: Plagued by a weak bench, their lack of depth sealed their fate in the playoffs. A very good team, if they can make a few moves maybe they get to the semi-finals next year.
6. Detroit Pistons 4.75: Detroit's GM has made mention of breaking up the team, but it would appear they just had a down year. They could use some upgrades, but based on their ranking here and last year's success, I wouldn't make drastic changes just yet.
7. Milwaukee Bucks 4.6: Milwaukee made some nice strides this year and if they can make some more improvements to the roster, maybe they go farther next year.
8. Miami Heat 4.45: Miami shook up its roster some at the trade deadline as the Knicks and heat swapped stars. It remains to be seen if their new identity will take them any farther.
9. Indiana Pacers 3.15: In a bizarre move, the Pacers GM quit over the lack of succes the team has had. After grabbing the #1 pick in the draft last year, you'd have thought he'd give it more time.
10. Atlanta Hawks 2.8 The Hawks made some improvements this year, but it didn't take them deep in the playoffs as they were ousted early by the Nets.
The rest...
11. Minnesota Timberwolves 2.4
12. Washinton Wizards 2.3
13. New Jersey Nets 1.35
14. Phoenix Suns 1.15
15. Golden State Warriors .1
