About half way through the season here is the second installment. At this point I will eliminate the guys not playing any real minutes since they won't have a chance to contend for ROY.
[glow=red,2,300]Guys in serious contention[/glow]
#4 - Houston - SF DeShaun Thomas - basically is maintaining the performance that got him to the top of the list last time around. All shooting percents look very good and he scores 21 a game. He adds the 7 boards and a steal to give that all around game. Not as great at passing as some of the recent great SF prospects but still the best rookie at the moment.
#9 - Philadelphia - SF Scotty Hopson - his shooting percent dropped to 48% which is still very good but his other numbers remained. 20 points, 4.6 boards, 1 steal and only 1 turnover. He needs to either rebound or pass more as he is kind of a one sided player for now. But scoring is a good one side.

[glow=red,2,300]Guys who need to step up[/glow]
#5 - Memphis - C Derrick Favors - I moved him down to this category because he can't grab 10 boards and he shoots 37%. He is a very good shot blocker and scores 12 points a game but on a bad Memphis team he has the opportunity to do more.
#2 - Toronto - SG Tyreke Evans - moved him down as I don't see improvement and he is not in the category as the other guys above. Scores 14, grabs 5 boards and dishes out 3.4 assists. His shooting percent is average and he doesn't turn the ball over. But for now similar to James Johnson he is a very solid player but not a star.
#8 - Chicago - PF James Johnson - same story as last time. He scores, rebounds and plays defense but none in spectacular fashion. Starts at PF for the Bulls and is putting up respectable number. He is a double double guy and gets a block and a half a game. He is shooting well for a rookie big man at 44%.
#7 - New Jersey - SG Xavier Henry - finally got to start for 7 games. Scored 23 in game 1. Shut out in game 2 (7 points). 23 in game 3 including 12 free throws made. In game 4 led the team with 35 points and 13 more free throws. Blazers held him to 17. Lakers held him to 14. comes back with 22. Point is he is explosive and outside of his 7 point game this dude can score in bunches. Needs to be more consistent. He also rebounds similar to DeShaun Thomas.
#23 - Houston - PG Patrick Mills - really the same as last writeup. He is playing 31 minutes of terrible basketball. His defense is awful, his assists to TO ratio is bad and really nothing good so far. Tough to be a 1st year point guard.
#21 - Washington - SG LaceDarius Dunn - since dealing Arenas this team has struggled to score and LaceDarius does not seem to be the answer. As a starter he averaged about 15 but what didn't impress me was outside of a game where he scored 24 he really never explodes for much. Just not a dominant guy considering he wont show up for defense.
#19 - Milwaukee - PF Gani Lawal - plays good defense as shown by his 2.4 blocks a game but at 4 points in 18 minutes he is an offensive killer. Not sure if he will continue getting this much time if he can't contribute at all. Next installment I predict he gets eliminated.
#15 - Golden State - C John Henson - similar to Kalin he is sucking so I wont mention how he is shooting 36% and not earning playing time. Bu the Warriors are bad so maybe he earns a starting spot and makes a late run for ROY.
#3 - Denver - PG Kalin Lucas - he should be eliminated but his talent is good enough that I will give him a few more games.
#1 - Dallas - C John Riek - his shooting percent plummeted since our last write up and now similar to Aldrich he is only a big body. Still grabbing 10 boards and blocking over 4 shots but is awful on offense averaging 7.9 points but on 36% shooting. Basically Mark Eaton at this point.
#10 - Boston - C Cole Aldrich - still not playing great but at least he is getting his 10 boards per game and 2.7 blocks. His offense sucks at 7.8 points and shooting 37%. Starting to become a very long shot for ROY.
