members.cox.net/lmcoon/salarycap.htmThis is essential to be in this league. I understand people will get confused at times, and that is fine, nobody is perfect. However, if people are generally educated on how the cap works, how you can sign, waive and cut players, and what you must to do trade, the league will run a lot more smoothly and Jeff and I will be able to focus on updating things in what is going to be a hectic start. Just take a few minutes and read this, know your cap situation and formulate an idea of how to run a team. Any questions, ask us or other owners, we will be glad to help.

It really has no meaning besides you cant sign anyone other the MLE,LLE, or min. But if you go over the hard cap you start losing stuff. I say about 90% of teams are usually over the soft cap so I wouldn't worry about it just make sure you under the hard cap.

How do 'buy-outs' work? Full value for all years remaining, 50% of all years remaining...?

You get 4 free buyouts to start. That means you can remove 4 years off of any combo of contracts. After that, everything is a full buyout and the full amount counts against the cap that year.

Most leagues dont do that wizards so i say take advantage of this gift as soon as you can and wisely...you lose them at the end of the season.

I used my free, however I saw in the salary cap guide that in real life players will often take 50% buy-outs. Figured ours would just be a full buy-out, but had to ask.
Also, how do we find out how much cash we have?

by cash do you mean ATC? ATC's are located in the ATC thread. if your talking about cap room and stuff they are located on your roster page.

There is no cash in FBB, that is why we are instituting a hard cap pretty soon to keep insane spending down (it's likely going to be 80-85M, ignore the 70M posted).

So does a 'buy-out' work then? You would just take all of the money and apply it to that year? But then the next year it disappears?
I'm confused...

No, every dollar is guarenteed to the player. Say the deal is the following:
Year 1 - 7,000,000 Year 2 - 7,500,000 Year 3 - 8,000,000
If you chose to buy him out, he would cost you 7M against the cap in year 1, 7.5M against the cap in year 2 and 8M against the cap in year 3. Basically, you don't want to buy a guy out unless he is so horrible you can't play him. Or, you buy out an expiring contract to free up a roster spot.
It's like PSBL, every dollar he is signed for is counted toward your cap.

ya no buyouts in FBB. Too hard to make it fair...thats what the free years were for. You cant think this game will be like mogul cuz they are totally different. Have some expectations that it is a brand new game if you are not used to it. It is a lot more simple then mogul and things you think will be complicated really are not at all.

The CBA has extended the trade rule from 115% to 125% -- I'm assuming the game is still at 115%
