TOP 10
#1: GREG ODEN PORTLAND TRAILBLAZERS
Oden is still on top of our rankings as the top rookie this season. He is playing extremely well in Portland scoring 16.2 a game, with 10.6 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and 3 blocks a contest , leading the league in blocks. Oden has been a monster down in the paint, just imagine him with a better offensive aresnal!
#2: KEVIN DURANT SEATTLE SUPERSONICS
Durant has really picked up his offensive game and has moved right behind Oden in our rankings. Durant is putting up close to 21 a game with, 7.3 rebounds, 3.8 assists, and 1 steal a game. Durant has doing it defensively as well where a lot of people thought he would struggle. If Durant can get his assists up some more we think he could over take Oden as the top rookie!
#3: BRANDAN WRIGHT GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS
Brandan has proven the Warriors made an excellent deal with the Bobcats to get this kid. Wright has been very good so far with 14.6 point a game, 9.6 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 1.4 steals, and 1.5 blocks a game. Very good stats doing it all over the floor. We think if his points pick up a little bit he's defintley going to give Oden and Durant some trouble for rookie of the year honors.
#4: JEFF GREEN SEATTLE SUPERSONICS
The other big time rookie the Sonics got in the draft is having a pretty succesful rookie campaign as well. Green is second in rookie scoring with 17.6 a contest, with 7.4 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 1.7 steals, and almost a block a contest. Green is doing well defensively. Some thought he'd be to small to battle down low but he's holding up. He's also shown a knack for stealing the ball as well. Very good young big man here.
#5: JAVARIAS CRITTENTON LOS ANGELES LAKERS
Crittenton currently the best PG of the bunch on the season. Crittenton along side Kobe and Lamar is playing pretty well. He's got 11.1 per game , 4.1 rebounds, and almost 6.5 assists a game and a steal. Crittenton is playing well and helping get Kobe and Lamar some open shots.
#6: JOAKIM NOAH CHICAGO BULLS
A tremendous defensive player early on in his NBL career so far. Noah has really dominated on the glass and blocking shots. Right now Noah is scoring 9.7 a game, with 9.5 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 2.3 blocks a game. Noah is up there with Oden blocking shots almost and if he keeps this up, Noah could be finding himself on some all NBA Defensive teams very soon early in his career.
#7: AL THORTON LOS ANGELES CLIPPERS
This physically gifted forward is having himself quite a season for the Clippers. He wasn't on the first rookie of the year rankings but has quickly moved onto them. Thorton is putting up 10.2 a game, with 6.7 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 1.8 steals. Very impressive numbers for the young rook. Thorton should find himself a lot more playing time with his very good defensive play.
#8: MIKE CONLEY JR. MEMPHIS GRIZZLIES
Another man finding himself on our rankings for the first time is Mike Conley Jr. Oden's teammate is doing pretty well on his own in Memphis. He's putting 8.4 a game, with 3.8 rebounds, and close to 7 assists, and 1.5 steals a game. Conley JR. is doing well and many expected him too because he is a tremendous athlete. We'll see if Memphis can get him some help around him.
#9: AL HORFORD ATLANTA HAWKS
Horford another young big man finding his way onto the rankings is having a solid season now. He's putting up 8.5 a game, 7 rebounds, and 1.9 assists and with almost 1.5 blocks a game. The Hawks got a really young team and there hoping Horford can be a big help in the middle down in the painted area.
#10: AARON GRAY CHICAGO BULLS
The young back-up center for the Bulls is our second Bull to be featured on the list. He has slown down a little bit but he's still playing good ball. Gray is scoring 9.9 a game, with 6.5 rebounds, and 1.3 assists a game. Gray is learning from Ben Wallace and looks like it is paying divdends. We'll see if he can keep it up.
