Miami is hurting, but it's Daequan Cook that's giving Miami's fans and DWade himself a little hope. DWade can score 30 ppg, but how long will Miami compete without a better supporting cast. 17.4
Ratings analysis: He's being asked to distribute the ball, and he clearly doesn't have the talent to do it very well. His skills are really having a halfway decent outside shot and fairly good defense. DWade can actually handle, but it would be good to have a sidekick that could take some pressure off of him. Cook is only 21, and if he can improve his handling and scoring ability, it could be just what DWade needs to stay interested and keep the Heat good.
The best case I can think of for Cook is about Mike Bibby level. He can become a consistent scorer from the outside with decent ballhandling and passing.
2007 analysis: Cook barely played at all in 2007. He played just 9 minutes per game, yet appeared in all 82 of Miami's games. He averaged a whopping 2.3 ppg, and even projecting that out is insane. With that little playing time, it's hard to read anything into it at all.
The future: Cook is only 21 years old, with B potential. He's not going to progress that much more naturally. He's scoring 17.4 points per game right now, but quite frankly, I think he's overachieving. It wouldn't surprise me if Miami runs into some touch stretches in the next few years and ends up picking a player better than Cook and relegating him to backup minutes again. If the Miami owner is super active, I don't see him pushing Cook that much with ATC's. He'd probably pick a different project.

2 on this one, hopefully Daequan can emerge as a good player, he still left school too early!
