TOP 10---
#1 : DENVER NUGGETS (50-8)
Since the last time I did these rankings... the Nuggets are 30-6 in that time.... Amazing. Lots of scoring Artest, Iverson, Camby, J.R. Smith, Dirk. Great defensive play as well but usually they just blow out there opponets. This is the team to beat no doubt in my mind. Who's ready to stop the New England Patriots of the NBL?
#2 : PHOENIX SUNS (40-25)
I gave the Suns this spot because I think there a little bit more balanced then our #3 team. Phoenix still has Nash who is having a good season yet again. Putting up 16 a game and 10.5 assists. Amare and Marion dominating the inside but Diaw and Raja Bell are playing great as well. Barbosa is a huge disappointment though not playing enough as he should be.
#3 : MEMPHIS GRIZZLIES (39-21)
Wow what a turn around. From worst to almost first. The Grizzlies selected #1 overall last season and picked up young star in the making O.J. Mayo. How is the young man doing? 18,6, and 3. Not bad for your rookie season but this team really goes because of the good inside play of Pau Gasol, Hakim Warrick, and Rudy Gay. Mike Conley Jr. the #4 pick two years ago is playing a tremendous PG for this team and is really vaulting this team to elite status.
#4 : NEW YORK KNICKS (34-25)
The Knicks are listed as the #3 seed in the East at the moment but I think there the best team in the East at the moment. There 9-1 in there last 10 games and everyone is playing extremely well. Eddy Curry, Koufos, and the man Dwight Howard all are having extremely good years inside for the Knicks. Jameer Nelson and surpising Nate Robinson are both having big years as well. Nate Robinson is super suprising though, how does the little man do it???
#5 : CHARLOTTE BOBCATS (35-25)
The Bobcats are a very well balanced squad, led by there big man Emeka Okafor who is putting up 25 and 11 a game and also 3.5 blocks. Okafor is definitely a MVP canidate and we'll see how far he can lead his team. Dunleavy, D.West, R.Felton and A.Morrison all big time contributors for this Bobcats team. I think the Knicks have a better inside game though then Bobcats thats why they get the nod over the Bobcats as the best team in the East.
#6 : GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS (37-24)
The Warriors are another young up rising team. They got SG Michael Redd just absolutely lighting up the scoreboard with points, Monta Ellis, Al Harrington, Baron Davis , and Brandan Wright. Ellis and Redd are a leathal combo out on the floor right now and the Warriors keep winning. Though this team has hardly any rebounding pressence, I think against a team with a good inside game the Warriors will struggle. There going to have to look to blow out teams.
#7 : BOSTON CELTICS (37-25)
The Celtics aren't a surprise anymore. You know what they have, and what young going to get. Ray Allen, Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett, and a little dose of Rajon Rondo. Teams are figuring out how to stop this which shows why Boston is 1-9 in there last 10 games. The Celtics dont have much other then there big three. They continue to fall and there in this big slump. Can they get out of it in time before the playoffs roll around?
#8 : CLEVELAND CAVALIERS (33-24)
The Cavaliers are nipping at the Bobcats heels for the division lead and just recently beat the Bobcats. The Cavs are on a roll right now and it's led by none other than LeBron James. Daniel "Boobie" Gibson and Z are having big years as well, especially young Daniel Gibson who is averaging almost 10 assists a game in his first full season at starting point guard. This team will only go as far as LeBron takes them though with still no real #2 big threat behind him. We'll see how far LeBron takes them.
#9 : SACRAMENTO KINGS (31-24)
The champs are struggling this year. Carmelo Anthony has been the main man there in Sacramento. Hawes and Maglorie are both have great seasons at the center spot for them, and Kevin Martin and Jason Kidd are having good seasons as well. The team has a great starting five but hardly any bench guys what so ever to speak of. This is defintley hurting them when there main guys need a rest. It will be interesting to see how this team fairs against some of the other big western conference contenders.
#10 : WASHINGTON WIZARDS (32-30)
The Wizards are a very balanced team which is why they get the nod here at the last spot in the rankings over the Spurs. Arenas is just a beast he can score and distribute with the best of'em. Jamison, Butler, Ricky Davis are giving them some big scoring outputs night in and night out . This is a very dangerous team because they have more then just one guy who can beat ya. They went far in last year's playoffs we'll see if they can again.
