1. SF Bill Walker, Portland Trailblazers22.2 PPG | 7.8 RPG | 4.0 APG | 1.4 SPG | .435 FG% | .349 3P% 2. SG Patrick Beverly, Houston Rockets
23.3 PPG | 5.5 RPG | 3.4 APG | 1.1 SPG | .468 FG% | .458 3P% - 2009 Rookies vs Sophmores Game MVP
3. SG Eric Gordon, Miami Heat20.7 PPG | 6.1 RPG | 3.9 APG | 1.2 SPG | .469 FG% | .422 3P% Honorable MentionPG D.J. Augustin, Portland Trailblazers21.0 PPG | 4.3 RPG | 7.7 APG | 0.9 SPG | .464 FG% | .426 3P% Bill Walker should be the hands down 2009 ROY winner. He has the best stats among the group, plays for the team with the third best record in the league, and just barely kept Carmelo Anthony from his third straight dunk contest championship. However, there is the counter argument that he benefits from playing with the likes of Oden, Augustin, and Hibbert.
My second place vote was pretty much a coin flip. Beverly is the slightly better scorer, but Gordon plays for the Heat who are a lock to make the playoffs wheras the Rockets are fighting for the eighth seed in the west. I give the nod to Beverly seeing as he was the MVP of the Rookies vs Sophmores game.
