Bucks Send: Troy Murphy Maurice Williams Danny Granger
Heat Send: Heat 2nd Nets 2nd Heat 1st 2012
This is one of the most one sided deals so far in the league. The Bucks free up a ton of cap space get a pick that could be lottery type and give up nobody of All Star quality. Here is the break down.
Troy Murphy - always has nice ratings but never does much. His upside is a 15/10 guy which is not that hard to pick up in FA. He is also 30 with D potential so he could be on his decline. A ho hum player.
Maurice Williams - simply an awful player. No need to review him further but I know to take his kind of salary you should be receiving picks and not giving them up.
Danny Granger - I assume he was the key to the deal but he also sucks. Like Murphy his ratings are very good but he does not produce. The last three years he is averaging over 30 minutes a game and scoring about 12 with 6 rebounds. Virtually anyone getting 30 minutes can do this. He also has a 5 year deal saddling him.
So the Heat got a bunch of bench players and gave up there huge cap space room which could have been spent on resigning JO or next year on the big man instead they got more bench players. I am also wondering if that 2012 pick will now end up as a lotto pick as this team has very few resources now to improve itself.
I just don't see the silver lining for the Heat at all.

i cant say that i disagree at all.. im not going to say a GM cant run the team he wants to run and i dont think those picks will hurt him to lose honestly but its all just ehhh salaries where there are better FAs... but hey one less player in the run for the big man next yr..... I thought about granger earlier and who knows i think in right situation he could do better then 12 and 6 but as of now thats just 5 yrs and i dont know seems like a bad (not horrid) contract to me. GL with each of your plans though.

you guys are clueless. cap space will be used next offseason I think your math is a bit off. Murphy and Granger don't come off the books next year so you will have 11mil less space then you could have. In exchange for that right you gave up a first rounder which unless you can turn the team in one year may be a lotto pick. I just don't see the point. I would rather sign Oneil for a mega one year deal and go to battle with the same team that you had last year. Maybe after that Oneil signs a better long term deal or something. But why spend 11M on bench players?

bench guys that you have for 2 and 5 yrs respectivly and if you referring to cap space used next season for the bucks then yes your right... that was sorta my point you gave him the cap space so that he can then use it.... you really got nothing much at all and gave him a ton.... i bet just to take the cap crap you got you could have given him like one 2nd rd pick.. it was all about the cap space and geting rid of those contracts.... he doesnt care about those players he traded... he freed himself and i give him props in the trade... sry cant say same for you.... thats my opinion though maybe im wrong....

So now you are going to spend ATCs to get rid of Murphy, Williams is awful so you have to wait till his contract ends. So now you basically got Granger for a 1st, 2 2nds and 20 ATCS? That is the worst deal I have ever seen. I am starting to question if this is collusion because the more you provide reasons for the deal the worst it seems. At first I thought you just over estimated the talent of Murphy and Granger but now I can't figure this deal at all.

yea not sure what to think. all i know is bucks has been shopping those guys for a while. heat has known they are available. he has had the contracts to match if he had wanted them, hence all his expirings. now he just takes them on for nothing at all and frees up the bucks to basically sign a big fa. fishy if you ask me.

I don't think the deal is horrible, and I trust the Heat GM based on what I've seen before. I don't think he is a flake and has a plan in mind.
He had 21M in cap space BEFORE FA. If he uses that up before FA, he can still go way over the cap to sign Jermaine O'Neal who he has rights with. So essentially, he is just stocking up on depth. If he thinks the picks are garbage, that's his priority.
