(A) Pistons Signed
Sign PF Elton Brand for $20,610,592 over one year.
Sign PG Andre Miller for $4,000,000 over one year.
The Pistons Lacked a veteran STAR and Brand brings that... He instantly gives the Pistons a ALL STAR Big as well as will help develop many of there young kids. Its a Huge Contract but it frees up money for next yrs potentially BIGGEST FA crop in yrs. Miller is a solid back up pg if anything were to happen to Lawson. These fill the only GLARING whole the Pistons had. Pistons should be able to push for the playoffs this yr after just being the worst team in the league.... This was great planning IMO by this great owner.
(B+)Warriors Signed
Sign PG Allen Iverson for $11,603,769 over one year.
Sign C Saer Sene for $4,500,000 over one year.
Sign SF Al Harrington for $12,000,000 over 2 years.
Sign SF Kyle Korver for $778,350 over one year.
Sign SG Stephen Jackson for $1,000,000 over one year.
Iverson is an allstar and a proven ticket seller. Even though hes getting up there in age its only a one yr contract and he could easily lead the team in AST AND POINTS. Jackson and Harrington off the bench or starting can contribute. The biggest problem with there signing s was they got no GREAT center and thats where there biggest issue is. No C on there roster averaged over even 4 PPG. For them to be a true PlayOff team they may need to sure up the Middle. Other wise they filled there depth nicely as well as a few starters.
(B-)Heat Signed
Sign C Jermaine O'Neal for $20,900,000 over one year.
Sign PG Gabriel Pruitt for $7,392,233 over 2 years.
They did what they REALLY needed to do by Getting there center resigned but they really had to pay up for him. Hes JUST under the hard cap now at 79.8 mil. That being said are they any closer to the championship. This may be a playoff team but there not getting any younger OR cheaper. Look for bigger changes in next yr or two.
(A)Kings Signed
Sign PG Baron Davis for $18,122,545 over 3 years.
Sign SF Rudy Gay for $60,132,660 over 5 years.
Sign C Ben Wallace for $4,000,000 over one year.
Trade SF Rudy Gay and SG Rodney Stuckey to the Suns for PF Shawn Marion
Kings had a GREAT FA Week. They signed a Near allstar quality PG in Davis for around 6 mil per yr. That could be a bargain. They got a young high potential guy in gay and traded him and Oft traded Stuckey away for one of the BEST PFs in the game which was a huge need in THE MATRIX. Hes going to demand alot of money next season but for this yr he'll help push them maybe far into the playoffs. Wallace although Older is still a Rebounding force as well as an A+ defender to help Hawes down low. They now have one of the better staring 5s in the league to go along with a very solid bench.
(C-)Grizzlies Signed
Sign SG Larry Hughes for $18,545,400 over 3 years.
Sign SG Vince Carter for $22,880,000 over 2 years.
Larry Hughes i dont get at all. He already has a GREAT sg in Mayo and they also sign VC. Maybe you move VC to SF and he can sell some tickets so thats fine... I understand that but hughes isnt even a good back up SG anymore. They could have used a SF of talent or another PF or even a back up C. They had holes and didnt really fill them. This team is much closer to top pick then playoff team.
(C+)Lakers Signed
Sign SF Darius Miles for $4,500,000 over one year.
Sign SF Quentin Richardson for $1,200,000 over one year.
Sign SF Hedo Turkoglu for $1,000,000 over one year.
Sign PG Chauncey Billups for $1,000,000 over one year.
Ok so they didnt have alot of cap space so for what they spent they got some decent player. Billups as a backup was probably a steal at 1 mil but why sign 3 SFs. I understand not being ready to give the reigns over to Washington but to bring in 3 guys that really cant contribute at the 2 or 4 i just dont get it.... I dont see any of the 4 guys that were signed contributing much at all... I guess biggest positive is that all one yr deals so that they can use money to resign Wade and Bryant later. This could be a playoff team with or with out these moves so just not sure.
(C-)Celtics Signed
Sign PF Tiago Splitter for $4,500,000 over one year.
Sign PF Stephane Lasme for $1,200,000 over one year.
They dont have anyone to eventually replace there older vets. They will have money next yr but they have big decisions ahead. They are not winning with this team but brought in no one for the future. They needed back ups at C PF and PG and a Starting C and they barely got any of that.
(D+)Mavericks Signed
Sign SF Shane Battier for $1,200,000 over one year.
Sign C Hilton Armstrong for $4,500,000 over one year.
They were bad last yr and didnt get much better here. The rookie draft MIGHT have brought in a decent center but thats going to have to take time. Armstrong is no more then an overpriced back up PF/C and Battier has solid D but ifs hes starting thats really bad. Id expect another top ten pick this yr. They need someone else to step up next to howard before he gets too old to use.
(C)Sonics Signed
Sign SF Stromile Swift for $1,000,000 over one year.
Sign C DeSagana Diop for $965,850 over one year.
Sign SF Lamar Odom for $4,500,000 over one year.
Sign PF Milovan Rakovic for $565,850 over one year.
Odom is a good back up for fairly cheep. I love the teams off seasons moves and i love there playoff potential but i just dont think any of the FA moves will make a big difference. Paul, Johnson, Durant, Green and giles is a very formidable starting 5 with Odom and Kidd off the bench. Not sure what else matters.
(B+)Trail Blazers Signed
Sign PF Tyrus Thomas for $10,000,000 over 2 years.
Sign SF Paul Milsap for $10,000,000 over 2 years.
Sign SF Renaldo Balkman for $2,000,000 over 2 years.
Sign PF Brandon Wallace for $1,156,700 over 2 years.
Sign C Darko Milicic for $5,000,000 over one year.
Sign SG Billy Humphrey for $798,667 over 2 years.
The had a number of holes after retaining only 6 or 7 players from last yr. There starting 5 were pretty set but they were able to sign 2 or 3 guys as reserves that COULD start on many teams in this league. The only reason that there not getting an A type grade is that alot of the deals were 2 yr deals. Its the Biggest FA class next yr including having to spend HUGE money on ODEN. With these deals it shouldnt crush them but it takes away 12 mil+ from what COULD have spent next yr. Over all it was a very good offseason for the defending champ.
(C)Magic Signed
Sign C DeVon Hardin for $1,100,000 over one year.
Sign SG Rashad McCants for $2,400,000 over 2 years.
McCants is a decent player but they really didnt have any great needs. No future star here but the contracts wont hurt them either.
(C-)Clippers Signed
Sign PG Shaun Livingston for $33,744,000 over 3 years.
They needed more then just this. Getting a PG and they got one familiar with team was good but they lost there Starting PF SG and a few others. This team needs alot and should be in the lottery again this yr.
(B)Hawks Signed
Sign SF Ricky Davis for $4,500,000 over one year.
Sign PG Earl Watson for $1,200,000 over one year.
Davis can still play and Watson is a solid back up. This grade may be more for the other offseason moves of getting Bosh and freeing up opportunities for other guys to play on this team. They may fight for playoffs this yr.
***(D)Timberwolves Signed
Sign SG Kirk Snyder for $3,045,000 over 2 years.
With many positions that could be sured up was this really the player thats going to do it.... I dont think so. I think this was a relatively pointless signing and will do nothing now or the future. I would have liked a better BACK UP CENTER. You have one true center on the roster. I know Jefferson can play there and is but hes 6'10 and Mays also is only 6'10. Snyder shouldnt play on your team or others IMO and both backup PGs are young and would be over matched PROBABLY IF Foye were to ever go down.
***(D)Raptors Signed
Sign PF Walter Hermann for $4,500,000 over one year.
Sign PF Jordan Hill for $1,200,000 over one year.
Sign SG Bryce Taylor for $540,850 over one year.
Sign C Joel Przybilla for $1,000,000 over one year.
Sign C Jamaal Magloire for $1,000,000 over one year.
Not sure if this was all just computer doing this too fill wholes or if we had an owner doing it but none of these moves should really help this team at all.
(B+)76ers Signed
Sign SG Corey Maggette for $5,000,000 over 2 years.
Sign C Zydrunas Ilgauskas for $11,434,279 over 2 years.
They were pretty set all over. Biggest loss was Thomas but getting a guy that COULD start at C if need be in big Z fills that hole and corey is a guy that could start for most teams in the league. They greatly sured up the Defense and should look at another solid playoff run.
(C+)Suns Signed
Trade PF Shawn Marion to the Kings for SF Rudy Gay and SG Rodney Stuckey
They traded a TOP NOTCH PF for a young newly signed SG/SF/PF in gay and a maybe ok player in stuckey who has yet a real chance to play. This is really TBD grade. If he really wasnt going to resign Matrix then could work out.... For the time being though im just not sure that it didnt eat a VERY LONG not great contract.
(D+)Nuggets Signed
Sign PF Wayne Simien for $4,500,000 over one year.
Sign C Paul Davis for $1,200,000 over one year.
Will see with this team. After having back to back GREAT years but falling short of championship both yrs what are they to do. There still solid enough to make it too playoffs although they lost some key players in iverson and camby. These signees just dont bring much to the table. They will back up Nene if he gets hurt but really they have too options and beyond that they are only an average team now.
(B-)Bucks Signed
Sign PG Mike Bibby for $2,500,000 over one year.
The bucks biggest move was really just getting well below the cap. Bibby comes back to his old team for cheep so thats fine they have there back up PG. Going from well over the cap to below it and with the possibility of another solid draft pick this teams arrow is atleast pointing up.
(B)Spurs Signed
Sign PF Drew Gooden for $4,500,000 over one year.
Sign PG Jamaal Tinsley for $1,200,000 over one year.
Biggest needs were to just fill in the teams depth. They got a GOOD back up PF that could start on alot of teams as well as an OK pg. If they could have gotten maybe a SF or C with some potential maybe bit higher grade but other wise this is still a solid team with better depth now.
(C)Nets Signed
Sign C Chris Wilcox for $2,670,097 over one year.
Nets lost there Back up C/PF and thats a big hurt with his upside but Wilcox can do an OK job off the bench. With his big trade though this should be an improved team. They still have a Good center Solid PF GREAT PG and over all ok team. They should be close to playoffs but may fall a bit short.
(C+)Cavaliers Signed
Sign C Glen Davis for $9,930,000 over 3 years.
Biggest need was a PF/C Big body and thats what Davis is. This team just isnt a championship contender. If there Rookie Big man develops then who knows but this just isnt a big Splash this yr.
(TBD)Utah Signed
No ONE but they were over soft cap and should be able to fill roster on the cheep now.
If i missed your team let me know but you didnt make a FA Move so it was hard to see who i missed.
Sign PF Elton Brand for $20,610,592 over one year.
Sign PG Andre Miller for $4,000,000 over one year.
